CareOregon is your partner in good health

What is important?

Your health is! We partner with you and a wide network of outstanding providers and other resources to focus on your health—not just your health care. We team with our members and their families to help them live better lives, prevent illness and respond quickly and effectively to health issues.

Sometimes protecting your health means we’ll help you find other agencies that can help you access non-medical support. Taking care of your family’s health is a team effort. We’re better together.

We are committed to improving and protecting the health of Oregonians on the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) and/or Medicare.

What is the Oregon Health Plan?

The Oregon Health Plan is the state’s Medicaid program paid for by federal and state taxes. Benefits and coverage are determined by the state, based on budget decisions made by the legislature. CareOregon serves OHP members in many counties through Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs) as well as members in counties that do not have a CCO.

What is a Coordinated Care Organization (CCO)?

CCOs are community-based health plans that roll all of your OHP health services (physical, mental, dental) into one.  As a partner, CareOregon teams with several CCOs across the state to provide OHP benefits to members living in those communities.

What is a Dental Care Organization (DCO)?

DCOs are dental organizations that are contracted with the Oregon Health Plan to provide dental care services to members on the OHP. CareOregon Dental is a DCO owned by CareOregon that provides services for OHP members in the tri-county area (Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington counties).

What is Medicare?

Medicare is the federal program providing health benefits for seniors and disabled members. CareOregon provides Medicare Advantage programs to people on Medicare (through CareOregon Advantage Star HMO-POS) and people eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare (through CareOregon Advantage Plus HMO-POS SNP). For more information about these plans, go to the CareOregon Advantage website for more details.
