Welcome to CareOregon We want to help new CareOregon members learn about their plan and benefits. In addition, new members receive welcome calls from CareOregon Customer Service representatives. The checklist below will help you make the most of your health plan. When you have questions, Customer Service is here to help.

New Member Checklist Each general checklist is grouped by the type of plan you have with CareOregon: CareOregon OHP/Medicaid or CareOregon Advantage Medicare. CareOregon OHP/Medicaid Plan Members - Call Customer Service and give us the name of your Primary Care Provider (PCP). Don’t have a PCP? Find a doctor who is open to new patients by using our Provider Search or by calling Customer Service.
Note: If you are a new patient, please call your PCP to establish care even if you’re not sick. - If you are pregnant, then you can search for a doctor (obstetrician) who handles Prenatal Care before the baby arrives. Or, call Customer Service.
- Call your OB provider to establish Prenatal Care as soon as possible.
- You’ll also want to establish or maintain a patient relationship with your PCP.
- Make sure all of your providers have your new coverage information. Show them your CareOregon ID card.
- If you take medications, then talk to your PCP about what medications your plan covers, or check our web site for drug coverage information. You can also call Customer Service.
- As a new member, if you have trouble filling a prescription for a medication you’ve been taking, call us. We may be able to help you with a transitional supply.
- If you have diabetic supply needs, then tell your PCP what they are.
- As a new member, if you have trouble getting diabetic supplies, call us. We may be able to help you get a transitional supply.
- If you need to know where you can get medical supplies or equipment, or want to set up mail order for your diabetic supplies, you can find a vendor by using our provider search. You can also call Customer Service.
CareOregon Advantage Medicare Members - Call to let us know who your Primary Care Provider (PCP) is. Don’t have a PCP? Search for doctors who are open to new patients by using our Provider Search, or call Customer Service for help.
- Effective January 1, 2011, for PCP and specialist office visits in Oregon and Washington: A PCP or specialist will not need to be in-network for office visits. Please let us know, if your primary care will be provided by an out of network provider.
- Communicate your new coverage information to all your providers, including your pharmacy. Show your CareOregon Advantage ID card.
- If you take medications, then ask your PCP which medications your plan covers, or get the same information through our drug coverage list.
