Top Self-Care Tips When You Have a Cold
- Avoid spreading your germs by washing your hands frequently with soap and water, especially after you cough, sneeze, and blow your nose.
- Drink extra water and juice.
- Get plenty of rest.
- Breathe steam from a shower or bath or use a saline nasal spray to loosen mucous and relieve congestion.
- Use lozenges and ice chips for sore throat.
- Most colds last 10 to 14 days, so give yourself time to get well.
