Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon's Russian Oregon Social Services (ROSS) provides domestic violence services to the Russian-speaking community. Domestic violence is traditionally considered a family matter in the former Soviet Union. As a result, many victims don’t understand their rights, which are protected by laws in the United States. At the same time, abusers do not understand that their behavior is a crime. ROSS provides assistance to victims of domestic violence, and offers cross-cultural education to various law enforcement, legal, and other professional services. For more information, call ROSS at 503-777-3437 or e-mail ross@emoregon.org.
