Farmers’ markets and farm stands are a great way to buy fresh fruits and vegetables grown in local farms. The Farm Direct Nutrition Program offers checks to families with young children in the WIC Program and seniors to purchase fresh Oregon-grown fruits, vegetables and herbs from farmers’ markets and farm stands during the growing season. Farm Direct recipients may spend their checks at authorized farmers’ markets and farm stands through October 31.

Local WIC agencies provide classes that teach families on a tight budget how to shop, prepare and cook fresh fruits and vegetables. At the classes, families receive checks that can be used only at local participating farmers’ markets and farm stands. These checks are also provided during one-on-one appointments.

  • Here are the eligibility requirements for the Senior Farm Direct Nutrition Program.
