By mid February this year, more than 2,000 products containing peanut butter had been recalled because they were contaminated with salmonella, a potentially deadly bacteria, and the list was growing. And just to be safe, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was telling people to not eat any product containing peanut butter that was made in the last two years.
But peanut butter by itself was OK.
Confused?
Food recalls can be confusing. But you can find out what has been recalled on a special web site, www.foodsafety.gov . The Food and Drug Administration has a Q&A about the peanut products recall, and will also post news stories about this recall and others, as well as lists of recalled products. |
