Young people are especially at risk

The 2009 Influenza A H1N1 flu, previously called "swine flu," is here.

H1N1 is a new virus, so people have no immunity. And it's most dangerous to young people who don't usually worry about the flu.

CareOregon and all of your providers want make sure you have the tools you need to stay healthy. That includes vaccination if you are at high risk of complications. Listen to the news and your health care providers, and follow the steps here to have the best protection.

Keep up-to-date on seasonal and H1N1 flu

We have provided some information here in CareLink. We have information on vaccine and who should get flu shots. We have a page on how to prevent and slow the spread of flu. We also have a lot more information about the flu on our Web site, including links to more detailed information from the government in many different languages. You can reach our Web page on seasonal flu here, and the Web page on H1N1 flu here.

New information is coming out nearly every day. The state of Oregon has a Web site, www.flu.Oregon.gov, to let you and your provider know what to do. It will tell you in more detail how to take care of someone who catches the flu, where to get shots, and more.
