“When should I have cervical cancer screening?”
Preventive care, such as shots and screenings, helps you and your family have better health.
For example, cervical cancer can be caught early. Here are the screenings for it:
-
Women should have a Pap test as soon as they become sexually active. A Pap test checks for cervical cancer. Talk with your doctor about whether you should have this test every one, two or three years.
-
It’s also a good idea to consider having this test at the same time as a pelvic exam. CareOregon recommends women have pelvic exams one–three years.
Your CareOregon plan covers Pap tests, pelvic exams and other preventive care. Read about them in your Member Handbook.
The Handbook also has a full list of preventive care recommendations, including screenings and immunizations for women. You can reach the Member Handbook for Oregon Health Plan Standard here (the Preventive Health and Wellness Checklist for adult women starts on page 22) and the Member Handbook for Oregon Health Plan Plus (see the Adult Health Checklist beginning on page 27)
