CareOregon welcomes new director of Provider Services

Director of Provider Services
With more than 13 years’ experience in the health care insurance industry, Peter McGarry joins CareOregon as director of Provider Services.

In an effort to facilitate access to quality health care for CareOregon members, McGarry will oversee all provider relationships in his new role. He also will manage the negotiation of contracts with health systems, independent practice associations and other large provider groups.

“I’m inspired by the mission of CareOregon to serve the uninsured and underinsured population in our state. I’m delighted to be part of a company that has a wonderful reputation in the industry for making a difference in providing quality health care for Oregonians,” he said. ”In my new role, my goal is to enhance our team’s excellence at being an influential and helpful ally to our provider community.”

Prior to joining CareOregon, McGarry served Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon as senior contract administrator. While there, he successfully harnessed strategic partnerships with hospitals and key medical groups. He worked closely with providers to enhance health services for members of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. Previously, McGarry was provider network executive at LifeWise and also held several positions within HealthCare Partners Medical Group in Southern California.

McGarry holds a master's in Health Administration from the University of Southern California and an undergraduate degree in psychology from Whittier College.

He has served on the Oregon Donor Program Board of Directors and is currently the treasurer for the Parent Teacher Organization at Vose Elementary School. His interests include photography, cartography, chess, distance running, indoor soccer, mountain climbing, golf and fiction writing. He is married with two children.
