Eighteen named to highlight Mental Illness Awareness Week

Martin receives mental health excellence award

Barbara Martin

Barbara Martin, PA-C, of Central City Concern's Old Town Clinic, is one of 18 recipients of a 2007 Mental Health Award for Excellence. The awards, presented Oct. 19, are sponsored annually by the Oregon Department of Human Services Addictions and Mental Health Division.

Martin has been a primary care provider at Old Town Clinic in Portland since 2005. She provides primary and behavioral health care to low-income and homeless patients, serving thousands each year. She has taken the lead in moving the clinic toward an integrated and team-based approach to health care, and this year became the clinician champion on CCC's Primary Care Renewal project.

Other recipents are Michael Reaves, MD, Lane County Mental Health; Martin Starr, Lane County Department of Youth Services; Shannon Boor, Morrow Wheeler Behavioral Health; Jammie Farish, Governor's Statewide Wraparound Project Steering Committee; Amy Baker, Multnomah County Family Care Coordination Team; Roderick Calkins, Marion County Health Department; Lori Martin, Oregon State Hospital; Corbett Monica, Dual Diagnosis Anonymous; Robert Wolf, M.D., Salem Hospital Inpatient Psychiatry; R. Drake Ewbank. Empowerment Initiatives Board of Directors; Lisa Davila, Luke-Dorf, Inc; and Danielle Moore, Governor's Statewide Wraparound Project Steering Committee, Oregon Family Support Network Board of Directors, OFSN Lane County Youth Leadership Committee, and Options Counseling Center Board of Directors.

Also named collectively were SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery (SOAR) volunteers Susan Schloss (Eugene), Amara Thelen (Grants Pass), Sarah Briggs (Oregon City) and Mellani Calvin (Portland); and the nonprofit Returning Veterans Resource Project Northwest.
