Flu vaccine information for 2007-2008 season
The influenza vaccine once again is a covered benefit for all CareOregon Oregon Health Plan and Advantage members.Optimal time for vaccination typically begins in late October and lasts into early January. All of our contracted pediatric practices participate in the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program and should schedule all high-risk members for vaccination as soon as VFC stock arrives in your offices.
Primary care providers received rosters that identified members assigned to their practices who fall into the high-risk categories. There are also find specific details on the VFC program as well as billing instructions in our on-line provider manual, page H14. Below are a few additional details:
- All injectable vaccines are covered.
- FluMist intranasal vaccine is also covered. It is limited to healthy children age 2 and older and healthy adults younger than 50 who are not pregnant.
- G0008 is the valid administration code you may use when billing CareOregon Advantage.
- Pocket information guides on the flu and pneumonia vaccines are available through your provider relations representative. They will also be handed out during clinic visits through the end of the year.
