CareOregon Advantage benefits providers and members

By Patrick Curran, CareOregon Medicare Director

Serving more than 5,600 members, CareOregon Advantage is one of the largest Medicare Special Needs Plans (SNP) serving dual eligible beneficiaries in the nation. CareOregon Advantage serves dual eligible members in the following counties: Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, and Washington. We thank you for your support of our Medicare plan, and ask you to consider CareOregon Advantage for all your dual eligible members.

Advantages to the patient

Single contact – Many FFS dual eligible beneficiaries have three plans: Medicare, Part D plan, and Medicaid. With CareOregon Advantage, all services and benefits are coordinated through a single organization.

Additional benefits – Our Medicare plan offers services not covered by Medicare, including an in-home assessment performed by home health agencies. This assessment is critical for patients who may have limitations in performing routine daily tasks or need special assistance. We also offer unlimited routine physical exams, to encourage use of preventive services.

Advantages to the provider

Single contact – Rather than billing two separate entities (Medicare and Medicaid) and contacting a separate Part D plan, providers contact one plan.

Streamlined administration – With CareOregon Advantage, you bill us once and we automatically pay the Medicare and Medicaid portions. No secondary billing or outstanding balances for the Medicaid portion.

Higher payment – In most instances, CareOregon Advantage pays physicians and other providers more than they receive for FFS dual eligible patients, as providers traditionally have written off the cost-sharing portion.
