Care support efforts help improve quality of life
| April 18 - Floydean, 61, lives in a small one-room apartment in North Portland and enjoys the company of her neighbors, friends, church community and two parakeets, Sunshine and Sugar Babe. She faces the daily challenges of a number of serious health issues and disabilities. Still, she is able to live alone with a support system of CareOregon case workers, a social worker, a caretaker who visits her once a week to help with cleaning and cooking, and her physician, Dr. Peter Hatcher. full story... |

New Avenues for Youth
April 15 - "They're not different from our own kids. Like most kids, homeless youth need help from adults," says Debie Heybach, NP. "They're young people who are doing the best they can to deal with bad situations, with hardly any resources."
Debbie serves walk-in clients at the outreach health clinic in New Avenues for Youth, an agency committed to providing services that empower homeless youth to exit street life. full story... |
