Pregnancy & Healthy Moms Seeing your doctor when you are pregnant helps keep you and your growing baby healthy. Babies of mothers who do not get prenatal (before birth) care are three times more likely to be underweight at birth and five times more likely to die than babies born to mothers who do get care. Doctors can spot and treat health problems early when they see pregnant women regularly. Early treatment can cure many problems and prevent others.
