New Provider Search Function

To make it more user-friendly and helpful for providers and members, CareOregon is redesigning our web site. Our first change is to the Provider Search function.

Our new, enhanced search function enables users to search for primary care providers, specialists, pharmacies, durable medical equipment vendors, etc. for each CareOregon plan (CareOregon Medicaid Plus and Standard, CareOregon Advantage Plus HMO or CareOregon Advantage Star HMO).

Web users can search by city, county, ZIP code or their own address. A special advantage will be the new mapping function, that shows users exactly where a provider is located.

Plus, information is available regarding which languages a provider speaks, what hospital or clinic the provider is associated with, and whether or not the primary care provider is accepting new patients.

If you have any questions about the new search function, please call Customer Service at 503-416-4100 or 1-800-224-4840.

Pediatric Provider Changes may affect your PCP Assignment

Did you recently receive a letter from DHS telling you that “You have a choice to make about your CareOregon enrollment?”

On July 1, 2010, some of the primary care pediatricians in CareOregon’s network will no longer serve CareOregon members. A number of primary care pediatricians in the Portland metro area now serve Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members who are enrolled in FamilyCare.

This change will only affect some of CareOregon’s members; for the vast majority of CareOregon members, nothing will change.

Parents: Get your child’s shots up to date

Students lacking proper vaccination will be excluded from school Feb. 17

Children must be up to date on their immunizations to remain in school after February 16. State law requires that all children in public and private schools, preschools, Head Start and certified child care facilities be up-to-date on their immunizations, or have a religious or medical exemption. If school and child-care shot records are not up-to-date by February 17, the child will be sent home.

For information on the required immunizations, visit the state Public Health web site.

New website encourages patients to partner with physicians for quality health care

A new web site, PartnerForQualityCare.org, provides patients with helpful tips for getting quality health care in easily understood language. While much health care terminology is complex, the web site launched by Partner for Quality Care removes the jargon from health care and encourages patients to work with their provider to get quality health care. Check out the new web site to find:

  • Tips on how to make the most of your medical appointment, find trustworthy health care information, and get care that works
  • Data that compares quality in Oregon’s hospitals
  • Links to trustworthy health care resources

In late February, the web site will include data that compares doctor’s offices on diabetes care, asthma medication, and preventive care for women’s health.
