Flex trips program closing December 31
Beginning January 1, Ride to Care will no longer offer Flex Trips to social health services that are outside of OHP-covered benefits. This is changing so CareOregon can maintain a strong, sustainable network of transportation providers, be good stewards of Medicaid dollars and meet the needs of our members.
This change applies to members using Ride to Care for Flex Trips to social health visits. These are visits that are outside of standard health care trips. Examples of trips that are no longer covered include trips to grocery stores, housing services, the Social Security office or trips for HRSN supports.
Covered trips are still supported as part of member transportation benefits. This includes trips to see a doctor or counselor, dialysis appointments and substance use treatment services. It also includes trips to the pharmacy.
For alternatives:
- Members may qualify for a monthly bus pass, if they have covered medical appointments.
- Members may request support directly from their Health Share health plan, which has a small budget to approve some trips on a limited basis. You can find information about how to submit a request on our Social Needs Assistance page.
- There may be other transportation resources available to members. Contact 211 for more information. Dial 211 or 1-866-698-6155, or 211info.org
