Letter to the community: Our response to Roe v. Wade

Jun 24, 2022, 07:00 AM

As a health care organization, our hearts are heavy because we know that today’s Supreme Court decision regarding Roe v. Wade will make America less safe. Less safe to be a woman needing reproductive care. Less safe to be poor and unable to travel long distances to seek abortion services. Less safe for families on the brink of financial collapse who cannot afford another child.

We are deeply concerned that women will seek abortion services outside of the health care system and put their lives in grave danger.

In Oregon, we are lucky that our state leaders took proactive steps to protect access to abortion services. We are proud to offer our members the full spectrum of reproductive care services. And we are honored to continue to lift up the voices of Medicaid members and remind folks that abortion is health care.

We stand in solidarity with other health care and community leaders across the nation in support of access to the full spectrum of reproductive care services.
